Workshop Two
SUMMARY
Workshop Two was a three-day workshop that built both off of Workshop One and the community contributions and analysis on the Planning Wiki.
After Workshop One, community members distilled the workshop notes posted on the wiki into themes of scholarly practice. These themes then became the basis of the future directions for Project Bamboo that were presented at Workshop Two:
- Advocacy (Leadership)
- Education and Training
- Institutional Partnerships and Support
- Social/Scholarly Networking
- Standards and Specifications
- Tools, Repositories and Content Partners
- Service Framework
After analyzing the list of directions as a whole, workshop participants met in small groups to discuss the potential risks and rewards of each direction, as well as develop a preliminary workplan for the upcoming Working Groups. Demonstrator projects, which will be built between Workshop Two and Workshop Three, factored into the discussion for many of these directions.
During the course of the workshop, an eighth direction, Stories, was proposed. Workshop participants met separately to discuss the role of this direction as Project Bamboo moves forward.
Finally, workshop participants engaged in preliminary discussions around different organizational and consortial models as the capstone topic of Workshop Two.
